Quiet Outer Banks village atmosphere: historic lighthouse, village shops, seafood restaurants, small galleries and museums within a short bike or tram ride. Nearby natural attractions include Cape Hatteras National Seashore beaches, Springer’s Point and maritime forests. The community is small and seasonal — summers are busy, off-season is very peaceful.
No bridges to the mainland — island access is by ferry, private boat or small aircraft. Within Ocracoke most people walk, bike or use local shuttles/trams; many rentals are bicycles and golf carts. A free village tram circulates the core on a half‑hour schedule in season. Car use is possible for vehicles that arrive by the vehicle ferries (Swan Quarter and Cedar Island) but traffic is light. Limited taxi and ride services; plan for longer transfer times and make ferry reservations in peak season.
Guests have private access to their assigned room or apartment, with convenient parking near the unit. During your stay, you’re also welcome to enjoy all shared Bluff Shoal spaces, including:
